San Francisco: IT major wipro The US state of Florida has laid off at least 120 employees due to “restructuring business needs”.

The job cuts by Wipro are only at one location in Tampa. “Of the affected employees, more than 100 are processing agents. The rest are team leaders and one team manager,” the report said.
Wipro said in a statement that this is an isolated incident. “Wipro remains deeply committed to the region. And all other Wipro employees serving customers in the Tampa area remain unaffected,” the company told the publication.
According to the report, the layoffs, which are permanent, will begin in May.
The Indian IT major earlier this month announced the opening of its US headquarters in East Brunswick, New Jersey.
Wipro has approximately 20,500 employees based in the United States, Canada and LATAM (Mexico and Brazil).
In India, Wipro fired more than 400 new hires in January for poor performance in internal assessment tests.
At a time when the job market is hit by increasing layoffs, Wipro has also written to new recruits, who have been offered Rs 6.5 lakh per annum, asking if they would be able to work at Rs 3.5 lakh per annum.
