She recalls the experience of being cast in RRR and shares her insight on the dedication of Rajamouli and others.
How do you look back on your association with SS Rajamouli?
I remember meeting Rajamouli sir in his office for Chhatrapati. Prabhas was also there. I remember him as a tall, mischievous boy. He used to call everyone darling then. We had a lot of fun working on that film and it became a hit. Then Rajamouli sir and I lost contact. When Baahubali released, I called him and told him that I want to work with him again. He said, “Sure”.

Did he offer you a role in RRR? How did you react?When he offered me the role in RRR and we were working on the dates, I didn’t know much about the part. I didn’t even know that Ajay Devgan was going to be in the film. He canceled the shoot once. The next time it was planned was the day of my cousin’s wedding. I had to leave the marriage and go to Hyderabad. Rama ma’am (Rajamouli’s wife) told me, “Trust me. It would be worth leaving the marriage.
It was a small role. I knew But I fell in love with the part and enjoyed playing it. I was asking Rajamouli sir what inspires him. He said, “These are all books that I have read since childhood. From Ramayana to Amar Chitra Katha. Rajamouli sir has also had the same team for a long time. So, you can see that there is mutual love and respect between them.

What kind of person is SS Rajamouli when he is not shooting?
he is very funny. He likes it when someone makes fun of him. He is simple and always smiling. You must have seen him having fun with his dog even on the sets. no play. During the shooting of the film, the food for the set used to come from his house only.

How do you feel about RRR’s journey to international acclaim, reaching the Oscars?
When you go on a film set, you know whether it is a good feeling or not. It was a great feeling on the sets of RRR. Everyone has worked hard on the film. The film looks good. People like Steven Spielberg have applauded the film so it’s huge. Every film has its own destiny and I hope RRR goes higher. Rajamouli sir had a major asthma attack due to dust during the shooting of RRR. But he only took a day’s break and got back to work. it was difficult. But he doesn’t give up.
