Choreographer-director Ahmed Khan worked as a child actor in Mr. India. In an interview to Pinkvilla, he reminisced about working in the film with late Satish Kaushik. Khan said that even today he says ‘calendar khana do’ when his wife does not give him food. He recalled that Satish Kaushik was the only person who used to scold the kids on the shoot as he was Shekhar Kapur’s chief assistant director in the film apart from being an actor. But he also loved them equally. He also actually fed the children off-screen, just like Callender did in the film. The name Calendar lived with them and moved with them. After that no other calendar was made.
Ahmed was 11 years old when he worked on the film. So, initially, he was not aware that Sathish is also the lead AD of the film. During the filming of the iconic ‘Hawa Hawai’ song, Kaushik used to give suggestions to Saroj Khan and Ahmed wondered why he was instructing Saroj ji when he is just an actor. Later he realized that he was Shekhar Kapur’s assistant. So, he was the strictest while shooting. Kaushik used to be strict while Kapoor did not tell him anything.
Later, Sathish worked with Ahmed in his directorial venture Baaghi 3. Meanwhile, Khan had worked with her as a choreographer in films like ‘Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai’, ‘Milenge Milenge’. The director revealed that his relationship with Kaushik started when he was 11 and when he directed Kaushik in ‘Baaghi 3’, Ahmed was 44.
Satish’s last film as an actor will be Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Emergency’.
