“First Raju Srivastava then Satish Kaushik… Why are we losing people who bring happiness in our lives so quickly? I think God needs good people as much as we do,” wonders producer and former chairman of the Central Board of Film Certification Pahlaj Nihalani.
Pahlaj says that Satish’s departure is a big blow to the industry. “As a professional he was a champion. Used to do so many films! In fact I was trying to get him on board for a new project. But he didn’t have dates for me. I did only one film with him, Andaz in 1994. in which he shared screen space with his best friend Anil Kapoor. Satish played a character named Panipuri Sharma. He brought the house down. It doesn’t matter how long his role, He always added a tadka, something extra. For some time now he has been doing negative roles and was also good at playing the bad guy.

Pahlaj used to meet Satish often socially. “We had only one group of friends. The last time I met Satish was at the wedding of producer Ramesh Taurani’s daughter. It was the first time I attended a function in almost two years as I have been very unwell. Satish was exactly the same as he used to be before. Jovial, friendly and warm. He was always smiling, always making people laugh. I think he is doing the same now. Just two days before his death, we wished each other a happy Holi.”
