‘Naatu Naatu’ became the frontrunner in the Oscar race when it won the Golden Globe Award in the same category. The win made it the first Indian Telugu and Asian song to win the award.
The composer-lyricist’s win puts Indian music on the world map once again after AR Rahman, who had earlier won in the same category and also won Best Original Score for ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ track ‘Jai Ho’ Was.
After a massive Oscar campaign, it was expected that SS Rajamouli’s RRR might find itself in the Best Picture or Best Director category, but the film failed to make it to the final nominations.
