Acclaimed director Shyam Benegal is undergoing dialysis at home as both his kidneys have failed and according to reports, his health is deteriorating and is not able to go to the hospital for proper treatment.

According to sources, although Shyam Benegal was already fine, he could not go to office in recent times. The 88-year-old filmmaker, who won several National Awards, has now been advised home rest by the doctors.

Shyam Benegal, who was the President of the Federation of Film Societies of India, has won around eight National Awards. Shyam received his first National Award for the film ‘Ankur’, which released in the year 1974. Shyam also won the National Award for the films ‘Bhumika: The Role’ (1977), ‘Junoon’ (1978), ‘Aarohan’ (1982). ), ‘Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose: The Forgotten Hero’ (2004), ‘Manthan’ (1976) and ‘Well Done Abba’ which released in the year 2010.
Reports also say that Shyam Benegal was planning his next film titled ‘Mujib: The Making of a Nation’ and as per sources, the film will revolve around the life of Bangladesh’s first President Sheikh Mujibur Rahman .
