In his latest interview, Kapil said that he used to drink to make himself feel better, but it took a toll on his mental health. He admitted that it affected his work and even canceled shows for which he had paid lakhs, as he could not take the pressure.
When Kapil was asked if any film stars got angry with him for canceling the shooting of episodes of his comedy show, he clarified that no one got angry. He further added that the format of his show is such that he cannot stay late even if he tries as he has to shoot multiple portions throughout the day.
“But yes, there were times when I backed out at the last moment because I didn’t think I would be able to do it… When Shah Rukh Khan’s shoot got cancelled, he met me after three or four days. He came to me.” Only one studio for anything. Maybe, as an artist, he understood what was happening. She is a superstar, after all, and she has seen it all in this industry. He called me over to his car, we sat for an hour, and talked. He asked me, ‘Takes drugs?’. I told him that I don’t do drugs, but I don’t feel like working anymore. He told me some really nice things, gave me advice. But this is one of those situations that you cannot rectify unless you yourself want to,” Kapil told Aaj Tak.
He said that it took him almost two years to come out of depression. His wife Ginni Chatrath forces him to travel with her to remind her what it feels like to live life like a regular person. He is back with a bang on the small screen with the new season of his comedy show. And now he is all set to make a comeback on the big screen with Zwingeto, which comes 5 years after his 2017 film Firangi.
