Bajpayee later filed a case against Khan, allegedly calling him a drug addict in some tweets in 2021. Bajpai’s counsel, advocate Paresh Joshi, said the Judicial Magistrate First Class on Thursday issued an arrest warrant against Khan and posted the matter for further hearing on May 10.
He said earlier the court had issued a bailable warrant against Khan for not appearing in the court. Bajpai, in an application, said that Khan was aware of the case against him but he was deliberately not appearing to cause delay. Khan’s counsel submitted that the proceedings against him should be stayed as he has moved the Supreme Court.
On December 13, 2022, the Madhya Pradesh High Court dismissed Khan’s plea seeking quashing of the defamation case against him. Khan’s lawyers claimed in the High Court that one of the Twitter handles, ‘KRK Box Office’, from which a tweet in question was posted in 2021, was “sold” to one Salim Ahmed in October 2020. He never tweeted anything intentionally. Against Bajpai, his lawyers had said.
