Guneet Monga calls All That Breathes director Shaunak Sen a ‘visionary’, posts appreciation of pen after Oscars | hindi movie news – Usky News

This year, India got three nominations at the 2023 Oscars. While SS Rajamouli’s RRR took home the Oscar for Original Song, Karthik Gonsalves and producer Guneet Monga’s The Elephant Whispers won the Best Documentary Short Subject award. The third nomination was for Shaunak Sen’s All That Breathes in the Documentary Feature Film category. While Shaunak’s documentary missed out on winning an Oscar, his fellow Indian and Oscar winner Guneet Monga had only praise for the young filmmaker.
In a long post on Twitter, Guneet praised both Shaunak and his documentary. In several threads, she wrote, “Dear Shaunak, It’s been a pleasure learning from you! I love @allthatbreathes. This past month, it has been an absolute honor to know you as a filmmaker. Bringing the world of film to the world.” Talent needs to be seen.” You have made cinema. Thank you for your contribution to Indian cinema and for reminding us of the beauty and importance of preserving our world.”

He further wrote, “All That Breathes will always claim both Oscar and BAFTA nominations, while it has already won global acclaim by winning Cannes Film Festival, Cinema Eye Honors Awards, American Society of Cinematographers USA and Asia Pacific Screen Awards.” Guneet was all praise for Shaunak, as she wrote, “I will always name Shaunak Sen before the world as one of India’s most important filmmakers.”

Guneet concluded her praise with the message, “Yesterday’s Oscars may have passed, but the impact of ‘All That Breathes’ and its visionary director will continue to inspire and touch hearts.”

Earlier today, netizens and even comedian Vir Das expressed their displeasure over All That Breathes being left out of the Oscars. But Guneet’s appreciation must be some solace for the young filmmaker.
