The film, directed by Bala, stars Suriya in the lead role. However, after two shooting schedules of the film, Suriya pulled out of the film due to creative differences between the actor and the director. An official announcement was made by director Bala that the film has been temporarily shelved and work will resume soon. Reports now suggest that Arun Vijay will replace Suriya in ‘Vanangan’ and the actor is now busy with his test shoots. Meanwhile, Suriya is now shooting for ‘Suriya 42’ with director Siva.
