New Delhi: All eligible pensioners under Employees Pension Scheme 1995 (EPS 95), who retired before September 2014, have time till May 3, 2023, to apply for higher pension, according to a labor ministry statement on Monday.
This extension was done on the request of employee and employer associations after the original deadline expired on March 3, 2023.
Supreme Court It had earlier ruled that those who retired before September 1, 2014, and exercised option under para 11(3) before their retirement, were eligible for pension on higher pay.
Instructions on the matter were issued to field offices in circulars dated December 29, 2022 and January 5, 2023.
Online facility for submission of application for verification of joint options was available on EPFO website till March 3, 2023, for pensioners who retired before September 1, 2014, and exercised joint options before retirement.
However, the deadline for all other categories of subscribers of the scheme is May 3, 2023. a higher pension.
This option allows subscribers to contribute their actual basic salary, which is over and above the pensionable salary of Rs 15,000 per month, thereby eventually getting a higher pension. EPFO issued instructions on February 20, 2023, for filing joint option online by employees who were in service prior to September 1, 2014, and continued to be in service on or after that date, but exercised joint option under the previous Could not use Provisions of para 11(3) of EPS 1995. Joint options for this category of employees can be filed till May 3, 2023. Minister of State for Labor and Employment Rameshwar Teli gave this information in a written reply in the Lok Sabha.
