Aamir said that he was planning to join the film industry, but was not sure. Little did he know that he wanted to work under Shekhar Kapur, a filmmaker whom he greatly admired. Kapoor was directing ‘Mr India’ at that time. Apart from appearing in the film as the character Calendar, Kaushik was also working as the chief assistant director on it.
Aamir shared with Humans of Bombay that he went and met Shekhar Kapur as he was one of his favorite directors. At that time Satish Kaushik was his chief assistant director. He held a meeting and showed the paperwork on his actions. The actor recalled that the people there were very impressed with the paperwork, as no one in the industry did paperwork at that time.
Aamir said that he was a great AD because he is good at managing sets, but he did not get the job. Later Satish told them that when Amir had come for the meeting he had come in a car and he did not have a car. So Kaushik thought that the junior he would hire had a car.
However, to Satish’s amusement, Amir reveals that the car was not his, and that he was working for someone that day, which is why he had it. Aamir could not believe the irony and told Kaushik that despite coming from a film family, he used to travel in public transport.
