ETimes got in touch with Divya Dutta who had some special memories of hers to share with us. Reacting to his sudden demise, she said, “I woke up to this news and I am beyond shocked. I met him only recently. He was fit and healthy. It just goes to show how life is unpredictable and you just have to live in the moment.
Divya further added, “I missed Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi at their Holi party for a few minutes. I also met him at Javed Sahab’s ‘Jadunama’ book launch event. He is a person who is extremely positive about life and has a zest for life. He had a habit of making people feel that there was no problem and everything was fine. This feeling was very much his love. He was such a warm person. Essentially, every time he met me he would tell me, ‘Yaar, kabhi to ganda kaam kar diya kar!’ The last time I spoke to him, he said let’s meet over coffee. We had a lot to catch up on. Now this will never happen.
Divya further added, “I am still finding it difficult to digest the news. Some people you don’t see this happening to. It was just not the time. There is so much in him as an actor, director and as a person. was what we had to see.
Talking about her rich body of work, Divya said, “She has left behind such a huge body of beautiful films. As an actor, he was comfortable. His sense of humor was amazing. You sit with him and there is never a dull moment. I am fortunate that I could sit with him, Javed Sahab and Anupam Kher. I was amazed how there was so much wit and humor in each line. His films were landmark. That divine smile on his face and the sparkle in his eyes is unforgettable.
