Recently, in an interview, veteran actress Ratna Pathak Shah took a dig at young actors who are considered superstars. He remarked that they are so dependent on their crew that they can’t even hold a coffee cup by themselves. They need an assistant to order coffee on an airplane, open it for them, then they take a sip and give it back. “What are you? A three month old?” said the actress. He further questioned that for the kind of money producers spend on star entry, do these actors bring in the same amount at the box-office in return? In an interview given to Film Companion, the actress further said that due to this, the stars are unable to remain grounded and this affects their work as well.
While Ratna has said quite a valid point, actress Bhumi Pednekar in an interview with the same portal has reacted to her statement. He said that everyone’s views are respected but he feels that with every generation, it is up to them how they want to stick to their craft or stick to the land. It varies according to everyone’s personal preference. Bhumi said that she could be sitting on a chair in the middle of her set and still not talk to anyone or she could be in her van which she uses to get ready. It’s about how isolated it is from the outside world.
