Rani and Nikhil talked at length about the film and answered questions from Karan Johar. Karan asked Rani how she decided to do a film outside her husband Aditya Chopra’s production. The actress laughed and said, “Nikhil told me that since he has worked with Karan and Adi a lot, he knows how they work and he makes me feel the same way. He was right. He told me Made it feel like home. Also, my husband works with a lot of actresses, so I can work with other producers as well (laughs). So, I really thank Nikhil for coming to me with this script. Want to thank you and don’t want to believe the rumors that I don’t work with anyone other than Yash Raj Films.”
The actress also revealed husband Aditya Chopra’s reaction to her performance. “He was really moved because he too is a father now. The last time I saw him so emotional was when Yash uncle passed away. He hugged me on one side as if I were his child and said ‘Shahab. He was quite shocked to see the film.”
Upon hearing this, KJo interrupts him saying, “Coming from Adi Chopra, that’s a big deal. I never got a side hug saying, well done. Thirty years.”
Rani reveals that Adi always praises her behind her back. “Adi compliments me behind my back, he doesn’t compliment me to my face because he thinks The Lakshmi of my house will cover my head. But after watching ‘Mrs Chatterjee…’ he was moved and could not contain himself.”
‘Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway’ is slated to release on March 17. The emotional drama is directed by Ashima Chhibber.
